Born in Millersburg, Ohio; admitted to bar in 1981, Ohio and U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio. Education: Ashland College (Mathematics and Economics; B.A., magna cum laude 1978); Duke University (J.D. 1981) Member: Holmes County (Past President) and Ohio State Bar Associations.
Max has served on the board of directors for the Holmes County Chamber of Commerce, the Holmes County Board of Mental Retardation and Development Disabilities, and the Holmes County District Public Library. He is an active member of the Rotary Club of Millersburg. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Killbuck Savings Bank Company, and is active in the Millersburg United Methodist Church.
